The Senior Logistics Officer plays a central role within the coordination team, ensuring effective planning, oversight, and support for logistics operations across both capital and field bases. This position is responsible for facilitating the smooth functioning of the supply chain at the capital level while providing strategic and operational support to base teams in coordination and collaboration with the Logistics Coordinator. The Senior Logistics Officer ensures the consistent implementation of safety standards, compliance with organizational procedures, and the delivery of accurate and timely reporting. Additionally, the role oversees proper archiving and information management systems, supports efficient fleet management, and promotes the correct use of LINK and IT systems in close collaboration with IT colleagues and the Logistics Coordinator. Through these functions, the Senior Logistics Officer contributes to operational efficiency, accountability, and the overall success of mission objectives.


Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Support the different activities that ensure the smooth running of supply chain

  • The procurement of office supplies, equipment and materials needed in base office if requested.
  • Participate in the updating price and supplier catalogue.
  • Participate in the organization of Archive documents, hard and soft copy under the guide and instructions of Logistics Coordinator, both on NHF and LINK.
  • Elaboration of procurement documents such as Purchase Line, Supplier Purchase Order, Contracts, Assessment Table, and Reception Notes.
  • Elaboration in preparing Tender Dossier and participating in Opening session.
  • Elaboration in preparing and managing procurement overtaken by the capital office and provide support as needed to the bases, in coordination with the Logistics Coordinator.

 

Objective 2: Safety

  • Participate in the update of the Hibernation and First Aid Kit stock.
  • Participate in that all the premises have adequate safety equipment (fire extinguishers, lights, etc.).
  • Support the Logistic Coordinator in ensuring that all Action Against Hunger premises in the base are secure, accomplishing with the safety rules as Action Against Hunger guidelines.

 

Objective 3: Reporting

  • To report immediately any incident and accident to the Logistic Coordinator.
  • Assist the Logistic Coordinator in the follow up of the logistics reporting tools
  • Active participation in the Logistics Capacity Assessment Elaboration

 

Objective 4: Archiving and information management

  • Participate in the archiving and Translating procedures for the supply chain documents, participate in Regular Backup.
  • Keep the No Hunger Form and LINK updated to minimize the audit risks.

 

Objective 5: Fleet Management

  • Ensure that the vehicles are safe and in good conditions to transport Action Against Hunger staffs and goods by supervising the drivers to perform the weekly maintenance check and the daily car verification.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and oversight to the bases in coordination with the Logistics Coordinator.
  • Responsible in the weekly and daily planning (movement plan, transport request).
  • Responsible in the Cost follow-up
  • Responsible in management of travel/accommodation /cargo dispatch if it is requested

 

Objective 6: LINK and IT tasks

  • Participate in Creating and updating Simplified Purchase, Advanced purchase dossiers and Frameworks and other details in LINK and upload the related Documents.
  • Support Action Against Hunger Mission Base Staff in Link
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of logistics-related IT equipment and assets, ensuring proper usage, accurate tracking, and secure storage.
  • Deliver basic IT support to staff at the mission, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Coordinate with the IT team or external service providers to resolve complex technical problems and ensure routine system maintenance.
  • Ensure timely updates of software’s and digital tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT equipment distribution, usage, and any reported incidents.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or any other relevant field.
  • Technical specific knowledge: Procurement / Negotiation / Planning / IT, preferably in humanitarian sector.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in a similar position
  • Good command of Microsoft office

Our remuneration package:
  • Contract period: 6 months renewable base on Action Against Hunger fund and performance. 
  • Salary/benefits: According to Action Against Hunger's salary scale and terms and conditions.
  • Duty station: Damascus.
