Action Against Hunger (ACF) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organization working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002.

Project Officer – Agronomist

Primary duty station: One of ACF’s offices in the West Bank, to be determined based on the selected candidate’s location, with travel to other offices as required.

For a period of 12 months with possibility of extension

General Objective:

The overall responsibility will be supervising the agricultural initiatives under different projects. He/she will provide all the technical support needed for agricultural activities related to the plant production & protection including planning, implementation, and monitoring, ensuring accurate reporting, tracking, and operational support. 


Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Planning and Implementation of Agricultural livelihoods Activities 

Tasks:

  • Responsible for the planning and implementation follow up of agriculture interventions related to the plant production in coordination with the head of project.    
  • Keep a solid record of all ACF agricultural interventions including status, operation, income…etc,    
  • Lead technical assessments and cost estimation in cooperation with other team members.            
  • Responsible to draft budget activities forecast.        
  • Provide technical inputs and review of BoQs for inputs and materials for different activities.            
  • Support in drafting project documents (including announcement, application, attendance sheets, agreements, assessments, ToRs for technical training etc.)  
  • Maintaining project database with up-to-date information and tracking.     
  • Assist in preparing monitoring plans and implementation procedures for each activity in cooperation with relevant team members.    
  • Conduct regular field visits to the project sites to conduct technical assessments, follow up the implementation, and provide the technical support needed. 
  • Propose technical solutions and improvements relating to project progress.

Objective 2: Agricultural Interventions Development        

Tasks: 

  • Support head of project in managing the relationships with the relevant stakeholders and actors. 
  • Support the programs in implementing FSL strategy on emergencies and development agricultural interventions.      
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of agricultural capacity building activities including training, manuals, guides, etc.       

Objective 3: Reporting & Database Management   

Tasks: 

  • Maintain and update project database with accurate information.
  • Assist in preparing monitoring plans and implementation procedures for each activity
  • Prepare reports for internal use and donor requirements.              

Objective 4: Others

Tasks:

  • Driving within West Bank base and field sites and staying overnight when needed.
  • Those duties are inherited to the position and requested according to the mission’s needs and context.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  •   Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related field. 
  •   Knowledge and practical understanding of agronomy and crop management. 
  •  Strong understanding of the project cycle within humanitarian and development contexts. 
  •  Minimum of 3 years of field experience in planning, implementing, monitoring, and supervising agricultural projects in plant production. 
  •  Experience in humanitarian emergency and development programming. 
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills. 
  • Strong problem?solving abilities and analytical thinking skills. 
  •  Demonstrated team spirit with a focus on strengthening team capacity and knowledge. 
  •  Fluency in Arabic and English (reading, writing, and speaking). 
  •  Very good command of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  •  Valuable prior experience or strong personal commitment to gender equality.
  • Valid driving license and proven driving skills are preferred.
  • Humanitarian sector knowledge: Considered an asset.
  • Languages: English and Arabic are compulsory (written and verbal)
  • IT and Systems:
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, etc.).
  • Mobility between West Bank is required.
