H&N Team Leader is responsible for all H&N projects in Aleppo. H/She will be responsible for H&N team members and monitor their daily tasks. Provide strategic leadership to the H&N department with focus on strengthening the quality of the H&N programme. Ensure compliance with ACF H&N technical policy and good practices. Represent Action Against Hunger in relevant external coordination meetings (H&N Cluster, Technical Working Groups, Donors Meetings, national and local authorities, and H&N partners).


Key activities in your role will include
  • Objective 1: (Ensure timely and quality implementation of the H&N activities portfolio in the field base)                    
    • Provide project management to the H&N team regarding all ongoing project activities, while maintaining and implementing appropriate standards and best practices in line with ACF policies and procedures
    • Support field coordinator, program manager, and the H&N team with the establishment, monitoring and delivery of H&N program level strategies, plans, targets, indicators, and work plans, verifying budgets against forecasts
  • Objective 2: (Ensure timely and accurate reporting of undertaken activities) 

    • Ensure monthly reporting of activities including achievements, challenges and explaining deviation with targets 
    • Contribute to donors’ reporting requirements
    • Collaborate with national authorities and partners to coordinate and implement public health and nutrition response activities    
  • Objective 3: (Manage the H&N team)                

    • Identify capacity development needs of own team and liaise with the Technical Coordinator and HR to envisage the way forward
    • In charge of appraising the team under his management and providing capacity building 
  • Objective 4: (Contribute to programmed development through participating to multi-sector integrated needs assessments and leading technical needs assessments                   

    • Collect information and data required to analyze H&N needs/gaps.
    • Collaborate with national authorities and partners to coordinate and implement public health and nutrition response activities.
    • Proactively identify new areas of opportunities and interventions in collaboration with field teams.
  • Objective 5: (Liaise and coordinate with external stakeholders in own technical area (H&N)                      

    • participate in sub-sector meetings and relevant technical working groups at the local level
    • Following up approvals from line ministries   

Do you meet the profile required criteria?
  • BS degree in medicine with specialty in pediatrics or maternal and child health, health or social sciences (including pharmacy), or international development/relations with public health management experience/degrees. 
  • Solid project cycle management knowledge and program management 
  • Technical knowledge in implementing H&N interventions, including primary health care, reproductive care, care practices, health care management, IYCF-E, CMAM, MHPSS.
  • Previous experience in the humanitarian field as TL or similar at least 2 years.
  • Good experience in working with international donors’ funding and reporting good knowledge of northwest, including Aleppo, Idlib and Hama. 
  • Excellent experience in working with local/national partners, Ministries, and other stakeholders with solid ability of regular stakeholder mapping, coordination, and representation. 
  • Good experience in implementing H&N programs, including maternal and child health, and nutrition service delivery in Syria, including strong knowledge of national regulations and requirements for primary healthcare centers, and management of health workforce and mobile teams, and interventions and capacity building for partners.
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Very Good command of both Arabic and English languages. 
  • Very Good Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT).

Our remuneration package:

Contract period: 10 months renewable base on Action Against Hunger fund and performance.

Salary/benefits: According to Action Against Hunger's salary scale and terms and conditions.

Duty station: Aleppo.
