Action Against Hunger is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organisation working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002. 

 Action Against Hunger is recruiting for its Jerusalem office a 

                                                                  Nutrition Information Systems Officer 

 GENERAL OBJECTIVES: 

Nutrition surveillance is one of the key strategic objectives within Action Against Hunger.  Within the context of oPt mission, the Nutrition and Health Department seeks to a) provide technical leadership for nutrition surveillance activities, b) implement surveys to inform programming and c) contribute to nutrition surveillance systems Moving into 2026, the department seeks to expand and reinforce these efforts, in response to the increasing need for high-quality and timely data on related factors and outcomes in Gaza and the West Bank.  A variety of surveys and monitoring efforts will be expanded in the two areas, with a primary focus on the sentinel site survey in Gaza and the IYCF-E survey in the West Bank.   


Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Support the development, design, and implementation of AAH’s nutrition and health survey activities. 

  • Support the strategic planning and design of surveillance activities, including surveys, operational data review, etc.  

  • Support the preparation of data collection tools and analytical framework. 

  • Provide capacity building to the teams on issues related to data collection, information management, digitalisation, and other related topics.  

  • Provide relevant technical feedback to field teams in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on ongoing data collection efforts. 

Objective 2: Carry out the management and analysis of the data generated across AAH’s activities, including programmatic data. 

  • Establish a data management process, ranging from export, cleaning, preparation, and storage.   

  • Conduct all statistical analyses of the data using statistical software. 

  • Review the use of program and activity data to generate relevant evidence for programmatic decision-making and monitoring. 

Objective 3: Support AAH’s technical contributions to wider nutrition surveillance systems in oPt.  

  • Participate in relevant meetings with the Nutrition Cluster and other technical working groups. 

  • Engage with key stakeholders on the nutrition surveillance system.  

  • Contribute to the technical and methodological discussions as relevant. 

Objective 4: Proactively support AAH's commitments to gender equality, child protection, and disability sensitivity.  

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of Action Against Hunger’s Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies, asking questions and/or for support when necessary. 

  • Implement all work-related activities with a gender, disability, and child protection lens, considering the different needs, concerns, and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries.  

  • Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities.  

  • Encourage the participation of all genders in meetings and on committees.  

  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.    


Do you meet the profile required criteria?

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Background in epidemiology, public health, statistics, nutrition, medicine, or related health fields.   

  • Humanitarian nutrition assessments (SMART, Coverage and IYCF/KPC surveys). 

  • Nutrition research projects.  

  • Information management. 

  • Advanced quantitative statistical skills. 

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience (research, statistics, information management, MEAL, etc.)     

  • MS Office (Excel/Word/PPT); strong Excel for data cleaning/analysis 

  • Kobo/ODK and DHIS2. 

  • R, Statistical programmes to analyse data (Stata), SPSS, or similar.  

  • Power BI/advanced visualization (asset). 

  • Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.?
